Lee to take on De Bakker
Clay a surprise choice, say Koreans
 The Koreans, meanwhile, were marvelling that the Dutch had chosen to play on a clay court for the tie. They noted that many European teams seem to think that clay courts don't suit the South Korean players. “But that is a misunderstanding,” Korea’s captain Nam-Hoon Kim said. “In Korea, we grow up playing tennis on clay courts. We actually feared that the Dutch would choose a quick surface for the tie. That would have been to our disadvantage.” Perhaps, Kim reasoned, the fine results of Hyung-Taik Lee, formerly ranked No. 36 in the world but now at No. 154, on hardcourt surfaces had caused the Dutch to decide on clay. Kim also added that his team considered themselves to be the favourites to win the tie following Haase’s withdrawal, and that the Korean No. 1, Hyung Taik Lee, was drawn to play the first tie on Friday, against Thiemo De Bakker, whom Lee is expected to beat. However, Lee added: “De Bakker has had some good results of late, so I have to be careful.”
